~My Five Star Review of The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller by L B Simmons~

~Synopsis~

Sometimes death isn't the end. Sometimes it's a beautiful beginning...

Death.

For some, it's simply one of life's certainties, nothing more. For others, it's merely a fleeting thought, one often overshadowed by the reckless delusion that they have been blessed with the gift of immortality.

For Aubrey Miller, death is the definition of her very existence. Overcome with the guilt resulting from the loss of her beloved family, she alters her appearance from the once beautiful, blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl to that of one shrouded in complete darkness, enveloping herself in her own unbreakable fortress of solitude as a form of protection for others.

As she enters her first year of college, her goal is simple: Earn a degree with the least amount of social interaction as possible. What she never anticipates is the formation of very unlikely relationships with two people who will change her life in ways she never believed possible: Quinn Matthews, the boisterous former pageant queen, and Kaeleb McMadden, a childhood friend from her past who never really let her go.

Over the years, as their connections intertwine and grow, a seemingly indestructible bond is formed between the three...

But when death painfully reemerges, Aubrey is lost once again, burying herself deeper than ever before inside the familiar fortification of her fears.

Will the refuge of friendship, the solidarity of life-long bonds, and the power of unconditional love be enough to do the impossible?

Will they be enough to finally bring about...

The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller?

~My Five Star Review~

The first thing I think about after reading this amazing book is don't judge a book by it's cover and certainly don't judge what you don't understand.  I make these statements in reference to the main characters in this story known as Raven, aka Aubrey, Kaeleb & Quinn. All who are unique individuals with different upbringings and struggles of their own.  The role that each of them play in this amazing book is simply wonderful.

Raven is different.  She has black hair with blue tips and numerous piercings.  She wears a different kind of makeup as well as contacts that resemble cat's eyes.  She is a loner and on her way to college.

Sadly, Raven believes that.....

"Morbid and I go hand-in-hand."

"I am death.  And I bring it to all who love me."

but she doesn't really like it.

"I hate the person I've become."

The truth is Aubrey, is a beautiful girl, one who has hidden herself away underneath Raven. I found myself asking why and what could have made her want to do this.  I would soon learn that Aubrey had experienced a tremendous amount of loss in her life which turned her into a different person, one she thought would protect others, people she loved and cared about, from death.

Quinn is her beautiful, over enthusiastic and energetic roommate whom I also adored.  The friendship that developed between these two was one I think everyone would like to have. Raven's first impression of Quinn made me laugh

"Watching her ponytail swing from side-to-side as she excitedly springs up and down, I find myself wanting to offer her a Valium."

Then there was Kaeleb, an eight year old boy that Aubrey loved so deeply at one time in her life and now a young man entering the same college as she is.  I loved this guy from beginning to end.  By far my favorite character.  I don't think you could have asked for anyone any better.  A friend, a boyfriend and a compassionate caregiver.

"You've always been my sunshine.  Ever since we were kids."

I enjoyed these three so much.  I laughed and I cried.  I felt like I was there as the author drew me into the story and I highly recommend that you read it so you can experience their journey together.

This is not a fast paced read but a wonderful, deep, emotional story about love, loss, depression, suicide, guilt, fear and uncertainty.  That being said there is a lot of sadness but there is also a lot of joy.  I admired how each and every one of the characters overcame their struggles and most of all when Aubrey became alive.

An amazing story of what true friendship is all about so grab your copy and enjoy.  I promise you won't be sorry!!

I will leave you with one of my favorite parts...

Every being in this world makes an impact on at least one person they encounter during their lifetime.  You can change the course of someones life by just a kind word, a hateful one, or even by simply choosing not to say anything at all.  Every choice you make has the potential to create a ripple effect, trickling into and affecting the lives of others.

Such a true statement^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Absolutely beautiful book L. B.  and the only reason my review isn't longer is because The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller has rendered me speechless :0)
